The last week in April there was a large Fishing Contest in Tobago . We were so lucky to join the Swedish guy Gøran from manta Dive on his boat Viking. Gøran left Sweden many years ago with a plan to see the world from his sailboat. The voyage ended in Tobago where he now lives with his wife Amanda.
If you are taking part in a fishing contest you have to get up really early in the morning. The alarm clock was set to 4 in the morning. We were 3 girls and 2 boys onboard Viking this day, in addition to Gørans 14 year old son and 2 year old daughter who were sleeping most of the time. The contest took place between 7 in the morning and 3 o'clock in the afternoon.
Everybody was hoping for a Blue Marin to hock up on the line. Ray on the boat Why Worry had managed to catch a 320 kilo Blue Marlin, 2 days ago, only 10 kilo from the record. The boats compete for glory and honor and off course the money.
You have to be really patient while fishing for the big one, we had to wait a long time before it finally snapped. Amanda climbed the chair and got a 22 kilo wahoo, or was a little bit less… The fish almost made it to the top it was only beaten by half a kilo. Wonder how many flying fish that is???

Lots of people came to look at the catch of the day, a 320 kg big Blue Marlin.

Peder is measuring the size of the dolpinfishes

Eivind is preapering the lines and bates before the fishing contest starts

We used 6 lines in different lengths from the boat

Amanda in the chair, ready to take the biggest and only catch that day

Eivind & Gøran are doing a last check on the lines and fishing gear

Amanda is working hard with the wahoo. No Blue Marlin this time, but lots of action anyway

The Captain on Viking is celebrating with wining and gymnastics Wahoo...... A 22 kg Wahoo, only a 1/2 kg from the biggest that day...
