Eivind is 27 years old, at least he believes so him selves. He has been 27 for the last 11 years… He has been boating since he was 10, and he has been sailing the last 15 years. Eivind was working as Service Manager for Lunde Båt until we threw off.
The dream of sailing far away has been there for many years, but in 2000 he told everyone that in 2004 or 2005 he would leave for about a five year voyage. When Heidi caught Eivind in her net in 2003, the plan was getting into place. Eivind has a lot of tour experience, also from other than sailing. He was one of the climbers in The Norwegian Himalaya Expedition 1999, to Ama Dablam, 6856 m. Eivind has been living onboard Empire the last 5 years.

Heidi is 30 years old, and she has not been that for very long.. She is an architect. Before we threw off she was working halftime at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design, and halftime at Arne Eggen Architects. Heidi has been sailing since she was a little girl. Sailing together with her mother and father has always been fun and has brought many good memories. She was rather happy when she captured Eivind, and shortly after moved on board Empire. Everything that could not get on board the ship is organized and put away somewhere in the familiy residence. Her apartment is sold. The dream of long voyaging in a sailboat has always been there. In memory books from the children's school she wrote that she wanted to be an architect. And she wrote that the dream was to sail away on a loooong voyage and to swim together with dolphins.
